Anglo-Italian pianist, composer and choral singer Giovanni Lonati will visit Tincleton for the first time this year.
The 32-year-old pianist studied with Daniela Ghigino and Sasha Bajcic, attending Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan and Conservatorio S. Cecilia in Rome, obtaining a scholarship as the best graduate of 2014. The same year he was awarded the Premio Pianistico Regione Lazio. In 2011 he won a scholarship to the Sommerakademie at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Giovanni has given recitals for concert seasons and festivals throughout Italy. He teaches in Rome at the Anton Rubinstein music school and has organised concerts with colleague Cristina De Luca, performing both as soloists and in piano duo, in various local festivals. He has also performed at a cycle of concerts for children, telling musical stories and featuring Tchaikovski’s Nutcracker and Saint-Saens’s Carnival of the Animals.
Giovanni has always taken a flexible and eclectic approach to his music. He is active as a composer and choral singer and for some years sang bass with Prima Prattica Ensemble, a young vocal group based in Rome and performing mainly Renaissance music.
