**** URGENT MESSAGE on Fri 15 April *** CONCERT CANCELLED due to COVID ****
We are really sorry but this concert is CANCELLED on both evenings. Unfortunately Giovanni has just tested positive for Covid in Rome, and has Covid symptoms. Therefore it is impossible that Giovanni will be able to play either of these concerts given that there is only 1-week notice.
We hope and expect to be able to reschedule Giovanni for another date, but in the meantime because it is the musician who has contracted Covid we are contacting all ticket holders to offer either a refund, or a transfer to another concert, or to wait until we can reschedule Giovanni.
Please can you inform any of your friends who may not have seen this message yet to inform them of the situation. We are afraid there will be the risk of this sort of thing happening for quite some time to come.
The details below were the original concert information :-
Giovanni Lonati will be playing at Tincleton Gallery on Friday 22 and Sat 23 April.
Born in Italy in 1987, Giovanni Lonati studied with Daniela Ghigino and Sasha Bajcic (former pupil of Evgenij Malinin, one of the most significant successors of H. Neuhaus). He attended Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan and Conservatorio S. Cecilia in Rome, graduating cum laude and honourable mention, obtaining also a scholarship (“Premio Adriana Giannuzzi”) as the best graduate of the year 2014.
Also in 2014 he was awarded the prize “Premio Pianistico Regione Lazio” and in 2011 at a national competition (“Concorso Pianistico Maria Giubilei” in Sansepolcro) was entitled to a scholarship for the Sommerakademie of Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he attended a course with Sergio Perticaroli. He also took part in several other courses and masterclasses with Michele Marvulli, Eli Perrotta, Chiaralberta Pastorelli, Bruno Canino, Rudolf Meister.
Since 2008 he has held many recitals for concert seasons and festivals throughout Italy such as “Young Artists Piano Solo Series” and “Pausa Museo” for Roma Tre Orchestra (Rome), “Noi Con Brahms” for “Associazione Kreisleriana” (Milan), the City Concerts of “Piano City Milano”, “Festival Pianistico di Roma”, “Associazione Bernardo Pasquini” (Formello), “I Concerti di Primavera” (Anguillara Sabazia), “Let’s Britten” (Rome).
In July 2019 he made his UK debut in Bath, holding a recital of Chopin and Beethoven, which encountered very positive feedback and reviews.
He teaches at “Anton Rubinstein” music school in Rome and association “Eidos Musica”, through which he has organised concerts with colleague Cristina De Luca, performing both as soloists and in piano duo, in various local festivals. A cycle of concerts has been also held at the school’s concert hall for children, in the form of musical stories, featuring renditions of Tchaikovskij’s “The Nutcracker” and Saint-Saens’s “Le Carnaval des Animaux”.
Always flexible and eclectic in his approach to music, he is also active as a composer and choir singer. For some years he sang bass for “Prima Prattica Ensemble”, a young vocal group based in Rome, performing mainly Renaissance music.
